Warja Lavater (Warja Honegger-Lavater) was an internationally known Swiss graphic designer, illustrator, book artist and painter. She is best known for her artist's books and leporellos, which retell classic fairy tales in an artistic language of signs and pictograms.
She achieved international renown with the artist's book "Wilhelm Tell", which was published by the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1962. A classic is also the "Little Red Riding Hood" which is repeatedly reprinted in the edition Adrian Maeght.
Warja Lavater was born on September 28, 1913 in Winterthur and died at the age of 93 on May 3, 2007 in Zurich.
